For those of you don’t know, 32 years ago today there was a plane crash which caused the death of three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd – Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. Other members of the band suffered serious injuries. The band disbanded a short time after for ten years.
Lynyrd Skynyrd were perhaps one of the best Southern Rock bands of all time with hits such as Sweet Home Alabama, Free Bird and Simple Man. They are today still touring after many lineup changes and released a new album last month.
Perhaps one of the best uses of a Lynyrd Skynyrd song though is in the final scene of Rob Zombie’s, The Devil’s Rejects. Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XooEpeaL5Fo
