Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash

For those of you don’t know, 32 years ago today there was a plane crash which caused the death of three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd – Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines. Other members of the band suffered serious injuries. The band disbanded a short time after for ten years.

Lynyrd Skynyrd were perhaps one of the best Southern Rock bands of all time with hits such as Sweet Home Alabama, Free Bird and Simple Man. They are today still touring after many lineup changes and released a new album last month.

Perhaps one of the best uses of a Lynyrd Skynyrd song though is in the final scene of Rob Zombie’s, The Devil’s Rejects. Watch it here:

Ozzy’s Movie?

The Prince of Darkness himself has declared in an interview with The Mirror that he wants a film of his life to be made, with Johnny Depp playing Ozzy. With the release of his autobiography ‘I Am Ozzy’ just hitting the shelves, it’s safe to say that Ozzy is more than ready to tell his story. Years ago he stated that he would never write a book about his life, but alas he has – even sat on the Graham Norton show promoting it last week (how metal). Read the rest of this entry »

It’s the start of October today, time for the Winter 2009 tours to kick off and some new bands to come into action. It’s also time for the October 2009 Music On The Mind Spotify playlist, hoorah!! So if you’re in the mood for 10 songs to brighten your day, look no further! I’m not too sure how well all this waffling is doing to influence you, but never mind.

This month’s playlist is primarily punk(ish) but wanders off toward rock ‘n roll territory.
