It happened, it bloody well happened didn’t it! Rage Against The Machine made it the Christmas number one spot in the UK and beat the sodding X Factor for the first time in five years. Since joining the group on Facebook a few weeks ago I thought it was just going to be another group that tries to achieve something but none of the group members actually do anything about it – this though was different. If you accidentally strolled into the basement of Nottingham’s Rock City you could be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled upon an amateur production of Pirates of the Caribbean. Swords and feathery hats aplenty, it was a dedicated fanbase that tonight’s headliners have amassed. Before the innovators of “True Scottish Pirate Metal” took to the stage, melodic metallers Eden’s Curse had the job of warming up the surly seadogs.

This Thursday I will be driving the 45 minutes needed to get to Nottingham’s Rock City. Headlining the show will be those Scottish metal pirates Alestorm, supported by The Rotted and Eden’s Curse. However I have never heard anything by these bands at all so I checked them out on Spotify just so I knew what I was getting myself into. Why go to the gig if you don’t know the bands I hear you ask, because it’s for the particularly wonderful website OneMetal. Anyway, on to the idea! Read the rest of this entry »

Not even remotely Christmassy this playlist. I’m not ashamed by it. Admittedly it could very well have been a festive playlist of an ironic playlist with songs such as Fuck Christmas by Fear. However it’s not. It’s just some nice juicy tunes to get your teeth into, yum yum!
